Internships are tenured and have a start and end date. Going that extra mile for new Jobs is like the unwritten rule and this is especially true for internships. This can be applied in many ways, - weather – accepting assignments that are considered too elementary or documenting everything that one does even if that is not your start skills.
Show cheerful outlook and show gratitude.
Be enthusiastic- It can be rewarding.
Be willing to take on any assigned task no matter how small. You will find that excelling at the basics can lead to more responsibilities.
You must leave you personal phone on “Do not Disturb” mode and keep it in your bag to ensure you are constantly putting your best foot forward.
Understand and embrace company culture.
Observe how other employees in the office act and mirror that.
Once you have figured out the office norms and follow them, they will help you build rapport with your colleagues.
Do not use social network site, converse with family and friends on chatting sites or text with friends through the day, unless there is an emergency, and your supervisor has approved.
Volunteer
Volunteering for projects can set you apart from other interns. This might require working on projects that are monotonous and not that glamorous but trust us, this is worth the time and effort. Employees do appreciate and recognize which interns consistently volunteer to help and the more you step up and prove yourself the more you will be trusted with bigger responsibilities.
