About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Ansys Mechanical Core Development team as a software development intern. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on advanced engineering features in our flagship product, Mechanical.

Responsibilities
  • Develop new features using object-oriented programming languages in state-of-the-art Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software applications based on the Finite Element Method (FEA).
  • Work alongside software developers during the design, implementation, and verification process.
  • Investigate defects in production code and develop unit tests for the developed features.
  • Analyze results and improve the usability of the software.

  • Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to university after the completion of the co-op program.
  • Strong and demonstrable knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming.
  • Deep understanding of programming concepts related to threading, memory lifetime, and ownership, as well as space and speed complexity of code.
  • Sharp and tenacious problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player, responsible, and motivated.
  • Experience debugging code with an IDE such as Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, or similar.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of FEA or similar computational techniques.
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system and development tools such as gdb and gcc.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Visual Studio and software configuration management tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Technologies (.NET Framework, COM, ATL) and agile software development practices.
